Pattern!

Today at lunch M and I went to the local Old Navy. We like to get out at lunch to get fresh air and to get away from our desks.

I originally went in to look for the kiddo but got sidetracked by sundresses and shorts. At the end of August M and I are taking a vacation with just the two of us, and then with the upcoming Disney trip I realized I’m going to need a few things.

Well a pair of shorts caught me eye. They were pink with tiny seashells as the pattern. Well they weren’t my size, but there was a navy pair with seahorses (I told my work bff they were lobsters but that’s just because I forgot).

I kinda love them.

Lobsters, seahorses, same thing

Plus, end of season clearance!!

I want a white v-neck t-shirt, and red Keds. So that’s on my shopping list.

God Works in Strange Ways

M and I bought a 2011 Cadillac SRX around March of last year. It has the push to start feature that is apparently all the rage. Personally, I like putting a key in somewhere, but whatever. On Thursday we were trying to leave work when the car,Sweet Caroline the SRX, wouldn’t start. A co-worker jumped us off with her hybrid (surprised THAT worked) and we were good to go. She was fine all day Friday. Then Saturday came. The whole family went to the fancy Kroger to get our food for the week. We got everything loaded into the back, and then nothing. It wouldn’t start again. However, we happened to be parked next to our co-worker Shelby, who lives nearby. How weird/cool is that? (That is all God right there.) She got us jumped off and we made it home.

After unloading all groceries/putting up the stuff that melts we had lunch then ran up to Advanced Auto. They tested the battery and said it needed to be charged and then re-tested. So we did that. We went to Kohl’s in my FIL’s car. Did some shopping (see below post-also how cute is that sweatshirt with the giant flowers!) and then went back. Bad news? We needed a new battery. Good news? It wasn’t the alternator like my BIL thought it could have been. (Again, God looking out for us because he knows we don’t have $500 lying around.)

So, $189 later we have a new battery (that M installed himself-so handy my husband) and Caroline starts right up.

God is so good.

So…

I got to spend someone else’s money. M’s ex-wife gave me $250 to buy clothes for the kiddo. I love to shop, and dress her so it made sense.

I’ve gone to about 4 or 5 stores and still have over $50 left. I hit The Children’s Place, Justice (which I typically don’t go for since it looks like a BeDazzler threw up in there), Kohl’s, and Marshall’s. The gray flats were $12.99 (Blowfish), and she said they’re like walking on air.

Not pictured socks and panties-cause those are boring. Although the socks are the softest socks I’ve ever felt!

All in all a good haul for 2 days. M and I are taking her shopping next week and between the two homes she’s going to be one cute girl!

This is Halloween

So, I like Halloween. It’s not my favorite holiday, but cool weather and candy, can’t be all bad. This year the whole fam damily is going to Disney World, and we will be there during Halloween! Yay!

Usually adults aren’t allowed to dress up as characters because it can confuse kids, but since it’s Halloween we can! I have decided to go as Snow White. I have a hair appointment next month and I’ll be going super dark. I have purchased a yellow dress, a red hair bow, and a poison apple brooch. I’m either going to do my denim jacket or a navy cardigan for the blue.

Since we’ll we walking around the Magic Kingdom for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party I need comfortable flats. I’m thinking red or brown.

Today I did things

The company M and I work for has this wonderful perk called summer hours. You work for 4 hours, and get paid for 8 hours. Every Friday for 2 months.

So today I worked my shift (from home no less), but M had to work in the middle of the day. So after I was done working we ran up to Joann’s and I bought supplies to make my co-worker a wreath. We only have 1 car, which M took to work, so I needed something to do while I waited for him to get home.

My co-worker asked me to make her a year round wreath, and showed me a picture of what she liked. It was a grapevine wreath, which it turns out sheds a lot.

So after I finished the wreath I vacuumed. Then I figured if the vacuum was out I should do the whole apartment. But then, you really should dust first so you can vacuum up anything that falls in the floor. (This is sounding like the book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie). So while I was at it, I did all the dishes, wiped down the countertops, made coffee to drip in the morning, washed all of our dirty clothes, made our bed (we never do it-bad adults), and cleaned the bathroom.

So now, I’m lying on the couch waiting for the last load to dry and M gets to leave work in 5 minutes, and  I’m thinking about how I have royal messed  up my new manicure, and how hungry I am but how eating would mess up the kitchen.

But here, enjoy the picture of the wreath I made:

A Touch OCD

Right now M and I don’t have a dishwasher. So, I wash by hand. I do this because I feel that M doesn’t do such a great job when he does it. We have a drying rack and a dish towel laid out to allow them to air dry. The image below shows you how much I enjoy organizing and my OCD side.

They’re organized by color, and then type. I like the ones that match, the his and hers Disney mugs to always be next to each other, and our every day mugs together. This isn’t as bad as it could be, but it’s still pretty organized (for dishes).

This Is Why DSW Should Sponsor Me

Being a Premier Member at DSW has its (major perks). DSW will give coupons for triple points. With the shoes I just ordered for the family, I got a $30 certificate. Then I had another $5 certificate (for some reason-I’m not really sure, but it was in my account). I saw some wedges that I liked last night in the store, but they were around $55. However, I went to check online, and the same shoe was on clearance for $34.94! Another perk? Free next day shipping 🙂

My new Jessica Simpson wedges will be at the house tomorrow!!

Jamey wedges

On a fun note, I told  my co-worker that I got a pair of wedges for free. She said how, and I told her. She then said that it sounded like a bad info commercial, “Tell me how!”

Bicycle! Bicycle!

“I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike, I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride it where I like”-Queen
M and I bought new bikes today! Both are Schwinn-7 speed cruisers. Mine is the Perla, and his is the Costin, both from Academy Sports & Outdoors.

We took them out for a spin around 8:30, while the sun was going down, and it was “cooler.” By cooler I mean, it felt like 90, and not 92. Because Georgia.

Having the wind hit my face while I sped down the street made me feel like a kid again. Running out of breath made me feel old, and out of shape. M said we’re going to have to bike to get where we should be, so, #goals.

I never wore a helmet growing up, this feels weird.

Family bikes! My bike matches the kiddo’s in color. M has the sexy, daddy bike.
